Superintendent's Message - May, 2013

We have survived a seemingly unending cold winter and finally we are starting to experience some warm weather in Northwest Ohio. The last month of school provides outstanding opportunities for all types of extra-curricular activities, field trips, end of year concerts, and most importantly graduation. Findlay Indoor Drumline - 3rd Place OIPA State Championships

fidlThis past Saturday (April, 2013) the Findlay Indoor Drumline (FIDL) traveled to Wapakoneta High School to participate in the Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA) State Championships. Their performance of this year's show, "Plugged In", earned them a ranking of 3rd place (bronze) in the state. FIDL is directed by FHS Director of Bands Tim Mattis.

Third Grade Reading Guarantee

Recent legislation strengthened the Third Grade Reading Guarantee to give greater emphasis to reading instruction and intervention in the early grades. Through this initiative, school districts and community schools will diagnose reading deficiencies in students at grades kindergarten through three, create individualized reading improvement and monitoring plans and provide intensive reading interventions. The new law also includes additional requirements for school districts and community schools. (Source: Ohio Department of Education)
